Hayes in the Last Frontier - Cruising to Alaska

Last week I went on an Alaskan cruise with my Grammy, Grandaddy, Aunt Rachel, Uncle Brian, my cousin Carlton and my Mommy and Daddy.  We did lots of fun things.

One of my favorite things was visiting Club HAL.  Club HAL is a children's program on the ship.  We had different themes every night.  For example, we had Spy Night, Survivor Night, Un-birthday Night and lots more.  My favorite theme was Spy Night - I liked it because we had to work together to figure out how to do the activities.  Carlton came with me on some nights. We played Wii Just Dance and you could also go during the day when we played lots of games.

On the ship, there were two pools.  One was outside and the one I swam in can be in or outside.  It had a roof that the ship could open when the weather was sunny, which it was two days during the trip.  There were lots of kids at the pool and I made a few good friends.

My friends' names are Lian, who is from Seattle, and Audrey, who lives in Chicago.  We were jumping into the water in funny ways.  Lucky for me, I got their phone numbers at home so I can call them.  We ate lots of ice cream when we weren't swimming.  I let Audrey borrow one of my bathing suits on the last day to swim because she had lost hers the day before.

The most amazing thing about our trip was the dog sledding.  We got on a helicopter (I sat right next to the pilot) and flew over the mountains to the Mendenhall Glacier.  It was so pretty looking down on the mountains.  Once we landed on the glacier, we met the dogs and our musher and got to ride on the sled.  I was the first one to be on the back to help steer.  After we took our ride, I got to hold a husky puppy who was four weeks old - she was so cute and her name was Robin.  I wanted to bring her back home but the musher said they count the puppies before everyone leaves.

When we stopped in Sitka, in Alaska, my Mommy, Daddy and I walked through a rainforest park to the Raptor Center.  We saw lots of big birds including owls and bald eagles - we didn't go too far down the nature path in the center because the sign said that bears might be there.

It took a long time to get back home on Saturday, and when we got to the airport, our luggage wasn't there. We are hoping that it comes today because presents we bought for people are in our suitcases - I was lucky that I carried Bear on the plane so he is just fine here with me.

Tonight Mommy and I are going to the American Idol concert in Durham.  We will get to see the top 15 finalists perform; I can't wait to see the last two, who were my favorites - there names are Jena and Caleb.
Caleb won but Jena is very good too.

Tomorrow is my first day of horse camp near Grandmother's house - talk to you later with an update!

Exploring Seattle

Before we went on our cruise we walked around Seattle.  We went on a very long plane ride to get here. In the morning we ate breakfast at the famous Pike market. After that we took a monorail to the Seattle Space Needle. We took a big elevator to the top.  When we got the top I had hot chocolate. From the top we saw the whole city of Seattle. After we got down we went to the Seattle aquarium. We saw lots of sea animals there like seals, fish and two octopuses.  Then we went to a restaurant on the pier and I had ice cream and Daddy had oysters. Finally we met Grammy granddaddy Brian Rachel and Carlton for dinner. It was a long day so I fell asleep while the fireworks were playing. Today we get on the boat - talk to you later thanks.

Volleyball Camp this week!

This week I went to Triangle Volleyball camp in Morrisville. I have been there for lessons before but I had never done summer camp there. Watch out !, because Hayes is here . I am going to tell you my top 4 things.
My first thing is my friends.  Their names are Braylen and Payton.  They are very nice when they helped me practice.  We had lots of fun.

I learned lots of things during practice.  We learned how to serve, attack, set and pass the ball.  It's hard when you first start it, but when you get used to it it's pretty fun.  I hope I can practice more so I can be better and try out for their team.
The games we played are fun and help with practice.  There is one game where you have to try to attack, pass or serve over the net.  If you hit it out of the court, you have to go sit down.  Then the next person in line goes and if the person on the other side of the net catches it, then they can come back to the first side. After all the people who hit it out start to build up on the other side, it's harder because there are more people trying to catch the ball to steal your spot.  The way you win is that you have to be the last person to be hitting and if you make it in the court you win!  I won once but it was very hard.  You need to practice a lot.
I really liked the t-shirt I got at the end of the camp.  It has a circle with a palm tree with the Triangle Volleyball symbol on it.  It is very cool.  I hope that I can go back for summer camp and lessons again.  The teachers are so nice and the camp is very fun.

My week at camp: Week wrap-up

The week that I went to camp Chestnut Ridge I did lots of things. I am going to tell about my top 5 activities.
My first activity is the zipline .  It was one of the electives.      We have to walk on a trail to get to the zipline.
When we got to the zipline a counselor named Matt who was from south Africa helped us into our harnesses and then gave us numbers. When it was my turn I climbed up the tree and then went down the zipline.  I had so much fun!
My 2nd activity is the songs. I like the songs because they are fun and easy to do. There is a video of my favorite song. you can see me on the left.

My 3rd activity is the slip n slide.  It is a HUGE piece of plastic with LOTS of soap and water.  It goes very fast. I did it 2 days.
My 4th activity is when we baked. It was a elective. We got to put the ingredients into a bowl and then mixed it . We also each got to scoop dough and put it on the cookie sheet. When the cookies were done we ate them. They were VERY gooey.
My last and #1  thing was the counselors. My favorite counselor's name is Morgan.   I like the counselors because they are nice and fun.

I hope you enjoyed this. I had a lot of fun at camp!

First Day of Summer Camp

Today was my first day at camp Chestnut Ridge.

Mommy drove me to a church parking lot. There we waited for the bus to pick us up and bring us to camp. The bus that i rode is shown above.

When we got to camp we all had to wait under the pavillion in the main part of the campus.  We wated there for a couple of minutes then the counselor told us to sit down.  They sang a song about the rules. After they were finished everybody went down to the mess hall.

When we got there we all sang fun church songs.

After that everybody went down near the lake and watched a skit by the counselors. The message of it s that we should take good care of gods creation.

After the skit was over all of the campers got divided up into there groups for there major.

My major is waterfront. We went to the lake on the other side and we caiact and canoed.  We played name games before that.

Right after we finished our major we had free time for a hour.

I went to swim in the pool for a while, changed clothes and then played a little bit of volleyball.

A couple minutes later it was time for lunch.

After lunch we got to pick what we wanted to do. I picked to go on a hayride to the farm.

When we got to the farm we played with the animals and in the sprinkelers.

When we got back to main campus we had a snack that has consist of slushies and granola bar.

The last thing we did was small groups. we did a activity from the bible and played games.

When the bus picked me up to go home i said bye to my new friends and went home.

Tour 2014 Week One: Atlantic Beach Fun In the Sun

Hello , I am 9 years old now.  My cousin Worley is 2.  Last week I went to Atlantic Beach with Grandmother, Aunt Temple and Worley.  We stayed in a trailer called the flip-flop house.  On our way we stopped for lunch at the Boardwalk Cafe in Beaufort.

The day we went there Temple had to go to work so she dropped off Worley and went to work. After we got the car packed Worley, Grandmother and I all went to the beach.

When we got to the flip-flop house we unpacked and then we went to the store to get a frozen pizza for dinner and breakfast for the next day.

After dinner we went to the playground and played on the swings. After Worley went to sleep Grandmother and I watched a movie called Monte Carlo then we went to sleep.

The next morning when we woke up we had breakfast, got our swimsuits on and then we went to the beach.  We stayed at the beach for a while.

After we went to the beach we went back to the flip-flop house and took showers.  We hung out for a couple of hours at the flip-flop house. After that we went to a bigger playground and then ate lunch at Ruddy Ducks.

When we got back from lunch we waited for Temple to get there.

When Temple got there we had dinner at the flip-flop house then went to bed.

The next day when we woke up Grandmother had to go get medicine so Temple, Worley and I went to the beach.  Worley played in the sand. When Grandmother came back she must have figured out that we were at the beach because she came to take Worley for a nap.

Maybe for 1 hour me and Temple played in the ocean and in the sand together.

We took showers and then while Grandmother was at the flip-flop house the rest of us went to go play put-put at this place called Macdaddys. It also has go-carts, bowling and a arcade. We played put-put and then i played games in their arcade. At the end, i picked out prizes to get with my tickets.

I got a little race car for Worley , A whale model, 2 packs of Nerds, and a jolly rancher.

After we got back to the flip-flop house Temple said that Worley needed to get a nap so Grandmother and i went to a store called flip-flops.        I saw a charm bracelet company where you can get a regular bracelet and then buy charms to put on it. I have really wanted one. Grandmother let me get the bracelet and 4 charms to go with it.

We got a message from Temple saying that Worley was not going to sleep so we went back.

For dinner we went to my favorite restaurant at the beach. It is called Amous Mosqitoes. My favorite part of going there is the dessert. it is a tiny fire pit on a plate with Hershey bars and gram crackers  and marshmellows and sticks . I love it!

The next morning we woke up and we put everything back where we found it.  After we loaded up the car it was time to go home ! I had fun but sometimes being home can be nice too.
